Biomedicines magazine, which specialises in biomedicine and biological and cellular therapies, has published the scientific study conducted by Dr Anna Boada-Pladellorens, which supports the benefits of Celular Clinic’s Celstem treatment in patients with knee osteoarthritis. This publication is based on the results presented in the doctoral thesis of a member of our team, defended in 2024, which highlighted the significant improvements in patients treated with Celstem. The study on Celular Clinic’s Celstem treatment published in Biomedicines magazine The study entitled “Efficacy of Stromal Vascular Fraction Treatment for Knee Osteoarthritis: A Single-Arm Experimental Trial” evaluated the use of Celstem (a concentrate of the stromal vascular fraction rich in mesenchymal cells and other cell progenitors) in patients with knee osteoarthritis who underwent intra-articular and ultrasound-guided infiltration at our clinic between 2018 and 2023. All these patients were followed up for 12 months and reported several improvements, which are detailed in the publication. One of these positive results was a significant reduction in pain at rest and during activity, improved knee function and the ability to perform daily activities, as assessed using international scales and questionnaires (KOOS). The publication also highlights the safety of the treatment and the absence of adverse effects after infiltration. At Celular Clinic, we are very pleased to be part of this advance: the fact that our clinical practice—treatment with Celstem®—has been the subject of a study published in an international journal demonstrates our commitment to evidence-based regenerative medicine. For this reason, we would like to thank the lead author, Dr. Boada-Pladellorens, for her tireless dedication to the publication, and the co-authors, Dr. Avellanet, Dr. Veiga, and Dr. Pagès, for their contributions. Treatments to relieve knee osteoarthritis At our clinic, we will continue to monitor our patients, collect clinical and biological data, and collaborate on new studies that help confirm and expand these results. Our goal is to offer effective, safe, and evaluated therapies of the highest quality to those suffering from knee osteoarthritis or other musculoskeletal injuries. Are you in pain? We are here to help you.

I’m Paco Marti Bjun. I have been a salesman all my life. The job was in textile sales. I am retired.

What limitations did you have with osteoarthritis of the knee?

I’ve been retired for 12 years now. I used to walk twice a week, sometimes once a week, in the mountains, on trails, along canals in the mountains. And I had to gradually stop doing this.
That is to say, every Tuesday when I went out, my knee hurt more. But it wasn’t sudden — it was a slow process. Slow, but within a few weeks or a few months, and I had to stop doing this activity because I couldn’t.
I would walk three blocks, reach a square, and have to stop halfway, after three street corners, because I couldn’t. I would go down the stairs step by step because I couldn’t go down normally without leaning on the wall or the handrail.
All of this was progressive, but quite fast.

What motivates you to take stem cell treatment?

Through comments with a person who is very connected to this laboratory, they mentioned that I could do some tests and undergo this treatment. I had no problems at all. None. Neither with the liposuction nor with the final result. No. Fine. Very well.
Sorry. A comment I would like to make is that I was a bit surprised — in a positive way — by the caution of the doctor who injected my knee. The syringe — nothing, just a tiny prick. The cleanliness that was maintained — an exaggeration.

When did you start to notice improvement?

In a few days, as I mentioned about the stairs, I started to notice, going down the stairs — especially going down — that I was going down differently.Differently. I no longer had to hold on to the handrail so much. I would say that in a few weeks, I was going down normally, without supporting myself, and going down normally. And this was very significant for me.The same with the bicycle, because I was able to ride the bicycle again and spend quite a bit of time on it.

Would you recommend having stem cell treatment at Celular Clinic?

Try it — because I also had my doubts. What happened was that the person who recommended it to me — well, they had a lot of knowledge about the treatment, and I tried it.
But, well, I also thought: if it doesn’t work out, then it doesn’t work out.
That is, for the final solution, there was always time — to cut here or do whatever, I don’t know what operation — there was always time.
So, I decided to try it, and I would recommend this. I’ve been doing it for three years, and I’m perfect.

Àngels Mach Buch

Angels Mach Buch

My name is Àngels Mach Buch. I am 67 years old. I am a pharmacist specialist in clinical analysis, but I have dedicated 33 years to office pharmacy. And I am the president of the Andor Society uh of sciences, which is a nonprofit cultural scientific association dedicated to organizing conferences, seminars, congresses.

What other medical solutions had you tried before stem cell treatment?

I had tried physiootherapy. I had tried hyaluronic acid infiltrations, nine in each knee, three at a time, also corticooid infiltrations, but they lasted for a while and then the pain would return.

How do you know about Celular Clinic and what motivates you to have the treatment?

Being the president of the Andor Society of Sciences after the death of my spouse, I usually attend the research seminars held at the University of Andorra. I went and attended one of the seminars where Dr. Boada was presenting the progress of her doctoral thesis and I saw uh that this was really a good idea for me to try and to contribute to the clinical trial.

When did you notice improvement?

It was really a very good idea because after a month I already noticed a significant improvement in both knees and the pain index had decreased uh uh by two units and it was really an improvement that I noticed right from the start and that has continued to improve over time.
After a year it had already improved a lot and right now four years later I can really make efforts that I hadn’t been able to do for many years before.

4 years have passed. How would you describe your current condition and how has your quality of life changed?

I have improved a lot.
My knees had no cartilage. The left knee, it didn’t have any. No, it didn’t have any. And uh the right knee had a small piece which was what threw me off balance. And after the treatment, besides the pain, I have been able to exert more effort than I could initially in the first month. So during the first year, I was even able to sit on the beach this summer when I couldn’t sit before. I had to kneel and turn around of course because I have really improved a lot.

Do you think this procedure could be beneficial for other patients with osteoarthritis of the knee?

I am very happy to have undergone the treatment and I recommend it to everyone who has pain especially those who have tried other methods and haven’t really improved because maybe it may not work for everyone but you have to try it because the improvement is really considerable.
