Biomedicines magazine, which specialises in biomedicine and biological and cellular therapies, has published the scientific study conducted by Dr Anna Boada-Pladellorens, which supports the benefits of Celular Clinic’s Celstem treatment in patients with knee osteoarthritis. This publication is based on the results presented in the doctoral thesis of a member of our team, defended in 2024, which highlighted the significant improvements in patients treated with Celstem. The study on Celular Clinic’s Celstem treatment published in Biomedicines magazine The study entitled “Efficacy of Stromal Vascular Fraction Treatment for Knee Osteoarthritis: A Single-Arm Experimental Trial” evaluated the use of Celstem (a concentrate of the stromal vascular fraction rich in mesenchymal cells and other cell progenitors) in patients with knee osteoarthritis who underwent intra-articular and ultrasound-guided infiltration at our clinic between 2018 and 2023. All these patients were followed up for 12 months and reported several improvements, which are detailed in the publication. One of these positive results was a significant reduction in pain at rest and during activity, improved knee function and the ability to perform daily activities, as assessed using international scales and questionnaires (KOOS). The publication also highlights the safety of the treatment and the absence of adverse effects after infiltration. At Celular Clinic, we are very pleased to be part of this advance: the fact that our clinical practice—treatment with Celstem®—has been the subject of a study published in an international journal demonstrates our commitment to evidence-based regenerative medicine. For this reason, we would like to thank the lead author, Dr. Boada-Pladellorens, for her tireless dedication to the publication, and the co-authors, Dr. Avellanet, Dr. Veiga, and Dr. Pagès, for their contributions. Treatments to relieve knee osteoarthritis At our clinic, we will continue to monitor our patients, collect clinical and biological data, and collaborate on new studies that help confirm and expand these results. Our goal is to offer effective, safe, and evaluated therapies of the highest quality to those suffering from knee osteoarthritis or other musculoskeletal injuries. Are you in pain? We are here to help you.

Dr. Boada presents her doctoral thesis “Evaluation of the efficacy of treatment with the stromal vascular fraction in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee: an experimental study with a control group”.

On Wednesday 19 June, Dr. Boada will defend her doctoral thesis entitled “Evaluation of the efficacy of treatment with the stromal vascular fraction in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee: an experimental study with a control group” at the University of Andorra. The doctor from the medical team of Celular Clinic has been studying the effectiveness of treatment with mesenchymal cells in the pathology of osteoarthritis of the knee for more than five years. The thesis evaluates the therapeutic effect of the vascular stromal fraction (Celstem treatment) in 70 knees and compares it with a group of patients (control group) who, despite being candidates for treatment, did not receive it. The work consisted of analysing the changes in pain and functional status of the patient before and up to one year after treatment. In addition, the magnetic resonance images taken before the treatment were compared with the images taken after one year, in order to measure and evaluate the changes that the cartilage underwent after the Celstem treatment. The doctoral thesis was co-directed by the renowned biologist Dr. Anna Veiga Lluch and the rehabilitation doctor, Dr. Mercè Avellanet Viladomat, also a member of the medical team of Celular Clinic Andorra.
